J B Davies Photography wins a Gold award in “The Societies’ ” Monthly Image Competition for November.
I joined the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (SWPP) around 18 months ago. In that time I have taken up a range of development training which led to me achieving my Licentiate qualification after submitting a panel of 20 wedding images to a panel of judges who approved my qualification.
The SWPP is just one of a number of “Societies” and the monthly competition opens up to a huge range of competition categories and to thousands of photographers from across the globe. I’ve not really entered many of the monthly competitions but decided to enter an image in the Landscape category (a genre of photography I enjoy for pleasure). The standard is consistently very high and getting and getting a Gold or a Highly Commended really takes something special. Gold Awards go forward in January to the annual judging at The Societies convention (held in London) and these images are deemed to be images of the highest standard. They are also published in the Societies’ Magazine “Professional Imagemaker” .
I had taken the image whilst on a trip to Loch Lomond with my partner Sharon. And just this morning I found out it has been awarded Gold – my first Gold Award. To say I’m chuffed is a bit of an understatement. I had to check three times before I believed it!!
I hope this is a springboard now to further Awards in future months and I can now look forward to the convention in January where I’ll have a little more interest in the Annual Awards.
And here is the Gold award in the Landscape category for November.
