After being absolutely stunned by the Gold Award I was awarded recently for my Landscape submission to The Societies monthly competition, I received a congratulations email today from the lovely folks at HQ who have advised that I have now been nominated by the panel of judges for the award of “Photographer of the Year” in the Landscape section! (image below).
Of all the Gold awards over the year, the best of the best have been selected from each of the various sections and at January’s convention a Photographer of the Year will be announced from each section. And then from the winners of each section the overall “Photographer of the Year 2012” will be announced.
I’m absolutely stunned and very excited at this and it’s a massive honour to be placed alongside some of the greats in the photography industry (that’s how big this is)!
The Societies competition is open to members from all over the world, including America and Australia and they host the biggest photographic convention in Europe (held in January each year). The convention is being held for the first time at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel and it will attract around 15,000 people. This really looks like it will be an amazing event and in particular I’m now looking forward to the awards ceremony (the night after my birthday) where the awards for Photographer of the Year will be handed out. This event is attended by many of the world’s finest photographers…… What a night that is going to be!!
2012 has been a fantastic year for me. Gaining my Licentiate qualification, achieving a Gold Award and now this amazing nomination….. wow! It actually doesn’t matter if I win or not – I feel like a winner no matter what. I’m amazed and happy to be involved and now it’s roll on January………… 🙂
